History of Fat's

The Fat Family name has been a part of the Sacramento community since 1939, when Frank Fat's restaurant, the first in the family dynasty, was opened by the late Frank Fat. The restaurant holds the position of being Sacramento's oldest eating establishment still owned and operated by the same family in the same location. The legendary restaurant is located at 806 L Street, adjacent to the State Capitol in downtown Sacramento and has been a second home to governors, senators, members of Congress, lobbyists, and entertainment and sports personalities.

Frank knew how to provide good food, excellent service and had an instinct for good business. Today the Fat Family carries on his legacy with the culinary dynasty which includes California Fat's and Fat City both in Old Sacramento; Kung Fu Fat's eatery at California State University Sacramento; two China Camp Express restaurants located in Indian gaming casinos and now our newest, Fat's Asia Bistro & Dim Sum Bar in Roseville.

Fat's Asia Bistro & Dim Sum Bar was designed by BCV Architects of San Francisco. The lead architect, Chris Von Eckartsberg, was inspired by the post and beam structure of ancient temples seen throughout Asia. The term "Asia Bistro" is intended to capture the classical designs of ancient China in a very contemporary European bistro type interpretation. The result is a hip new setting complete with palm trees, unique artwork and even colorful Chinese zodiac characters.

The menu consists of predominantly traditional and popular Chinese cuisine complemented with other tastes of Asia. Asian dishes representing such countries as Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Korea and Japan are sprinkled throughout the menu. Also on the menu is a section called Dim Sum. "Dim Sum" is Chinese for "touching your heart," a delightful way to summarize these light and satisfying delicacies that go wonderfully well with tea, sodas, wine or cocktails. They are served hot or cold, come in the form of little roils or dumplings and can be enjoyed as appetizers, unique snacks—or as an exotic lunch or dinner created just for you, selection by selection.

The Fat Family welcomes you to our newest endeavor. We would like to thank the community for your years of patronage and Look forward to serving you long into the future.
